Exiles Advent Midweek Series

“Exiles” is a study of what it means to be far from home, and even more so - far from God. It is a study in contrast between being with God - and apart from God. In the season of Advent, this study will help us ponder why we needed a way to be brought back together with our Creator, why it is so essential for the Messiah to bring us back from exile.

The scripture texts:

Week 1. Adam and Eve are Exiled from Eden - Genesis 3:21-24
Week 2. The Israelites Refuse to Conquer the Promised Land and Remain in Exile in the Wilderness - Numbers 13:17-20; 26-32; 14:11; 28-30; 34
Week 3. Exile in Babylon - Psalm 137:1-4

Ideas for New Testament Connections:
John 14:1-6; 16-23; 1 Peter 2:11-12; Hebrews 11:8-16

Bonus Thanksgiving Sermon Text: Deuteronomy 26:1-15 (We thank the Lord because he rescued us from exile)
